I think we're all a lot like my little brothers & sisters are. Even though they don't know what they're doing, neither do we most times. We're constantly looking for the bigger & better thing in our lives. "A bigger TV will make me more happy" or "The nicer looking car will make my life a whole lot better!" Things commonly we all think would make our lives better. The bigger it is, the happier we are, & more we think it'll do us some good. It's a natural human thing we do, I believe.
But, the older I get the more I realize that bigger isn't always better. In face, I've found the smallest, can be the better. If all we ever do is think about the biggest & better things in our life that sometimes is impossible to get, the less happy we will be. If you take a minute or two to just sit down & count all your many little or big blessings, you'll see what I mean. :)
Be looking for joy where ever you are, don't constantly think about the bigger thing to get, be content with God has already given you & blessed you with. It will make such a more enjoyable thing to live!
A lot of times people ask me why am I always so happy & cheerful, which I won't lie, I certainly am not always happy & cheerful, we all have our bad days! ;) You know what I mean. It's because I have learned (And am still learning much more) to try my hardest to find joy in the smallest things that God has blessed me with in my life. It's the truth. When I'm washing the dishes, something I'm not so crazy about doing, I look at the tiny little bubbles, it makes me happy to see them! They're adorable, cute & fun to watch. I know that's an odd example but, hey it does bring me joy! ;) Also the sun was shining today! It was, BEAUTIFUL outside, felt just a little bit like summer time weather, oh what joy that brought me! I went for a walk & enjoyed every bit of it, thanking God for sending me just a little bit of a reminder of the summer weather that I miss so dearly. I could go on forever about the little things that I see as blessings & bring me joy! But, I think you get the point.
Instead wanting & thinking about how the bigger & better thing will make you more happy, take a look around you & try to point out what brings you joy! What blessing God gave you! I bet if you take a minute to count the many blessings of yours, you'll see in no time just how blessed you are! And once you realize that the biggest isn't always the best, oh how much happier you will be going about your day thanking God for the things that you've noticed that bring you joy!
Trust me. I've tried this, it works! It WILL bring you so much more peace & happiness! :)
